Announcements for 3/20/2016

On Friday, March 25th we will have a three hour Kirtan meditation from 7 to 10 pm for Good Friday.

On Sunday, March 27th, we will celebrate Easter. The Easter Sunrise service will be held at 7 am outdoors in the courtyard.  Those who attend are encouraged to dress warmly. We will then have our regular meditation at 10 am followed by the 11 am Reading Service. Following the service we will have an Easter Potluck at 12 pm. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share and join in the fellowship.

On the Saturday following Easter, April 2nd, we will hold a 6-hour meditation with Kirtan.

The annual Helping Hearts Farm to Food Bank Project will have it’s Bake Sale Fund Drive on April 3rd.  Please join us for sweet treats, other eats and chai. The funds from this successful bake sale will purchase a weekly share of fresh vegetables to be given to the HopeLink Shoreline Food Bank for 20 weeks this summer.  Our goal is $720.00 for the large share. Thank you in advance for your generosity to the people in our neighboring community. Financial contributions are welcome.

March 13, 2016 Annoucements

March 6, 2016 Announcements

This week we will commemorate the Mahasamadhi of our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda on Monday, March 7 and the Mahasamadhi of our Param Guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar on Wednesday, March 9th . On each of these occasions we will have silent meditation from 7 – 7:40 pm followed by the Commemorative Service at 8 pm.  Those attending the Commemorative Services are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering.  As a reminder, the ushers will allow late arrivals to quietly enter and join the meditation during 7 – 7:40pm preceding the Commemorative Services.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, March 12th. The day will begin at 9:30am with a meditation. We will have another meditation at 12:30pm followed by a delicious vegetarian lunch at 1pm that will be provided. Then we will finish up projects till 4pm. You may come for all or any part of the day.  All, including children, are encouraged to attend.

Announcements for 2/14/2016

Thanks to all who attended the events last week as we hosted SRF monastics Br. Jason and Bro. Balananda.  It was a joyous weekend and we appreciate all who volunteered.

Announcements for 2/7/2016

All are invited to join us after today’s Service for our Potluck Social. We look forward to sharing in the food and fellowship with you.

Please note that we have recently switched service providers for our monthly email-newsletter.  The most recent newsletter was sent out this past Thursday, so please ensure that you received it. The sign-up for our newsletter can be found at the lower left corner of our home page srfseattlecenter.org.

A printed copy of yesterday’s volunteer workshop “Cultivating Divine Friendship Through a Spirit of Servicefulness” will be posted on the bulletin board for anyone who wishes to review it.

We have been fortunate this weekend to be hosting monastics from our guru Paramahansa Yogananda’s ashrams:

Br. Jason is currently conducting the Sunday School classes, so you’ll be able to meet and greet him after the Service. He currently serves as the advisor from Center Department to our Center as well as other SRF Centers and Groups in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Bro. Balananda has been a monk for over 32 years serving in the Film Department at Encinitas, as Youth Minister at Lake Shrine, and presently as Minister-in-Charge of the Phoenix temple.  Bro. Balananda will be our minister for today’s service.

Announcements for 1/31/2016

All are invited to join us for light refreshments in the social room after today’s Service. Please stop by and say hello at our Information Table, especially if you’re new to the Center or if you haven’t been here in awhile. We look forward to saying hello!

We will be hosting monastics from SRF Mother Center this February 4th through 7th. All are invited and encouraged to attend the weekend’s events:

Thursday, February 4, Bro. Balananda and Br. Jason will conduct a  meditation and Satsanga from 7 to 8:30pm, followed by a Tea social. Please place your Satsanga questions in the basket in the foyer, or submit using the Contact Us section of our website (srfseattlecenter.org), as soon as possible. Please submit questions that would be relevant or helpful to the group. 

Friday, Feb 5th: There will be an outing and luncheon with the monastics, 10:00am-2:30pm. There is a sign-up sheet on the white board in the Social Room for those who wish to attend. Contact Lynn Dhanak for more information.

Saturday, Feb 6th: The monastics will lead a workshop entitled “Cultivating Divine Friendship through a Spirit of Servicefulness” from 10am-12:30pm. At 12:30 we will have a volunteer appreciation event with a catered luncheon. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you plan to attend. All are welcome. The regularly scheduled Kirtan meditation will be held 6-9pm.

Sunday, Feb 7th: Br. Balananda will lead the 10am Meditation and the 11am Service. Br. Jason will conduct a combined Sunday School class from 11 to 12 pm. We look forward to having your children partake of the spiritual fellowship that day. At 12 pm, please join us for our Potluck Social and bring a vegetarian dish to share. Thank you.
