Announcements for 1/31/2016

All are invited to join us for light refreshments in the social room after today’s Service. Please stop by and say hello at our Information Table, especially if you’re new to the Center or if you haven’t been here in awhile. We look forward to saying hello!

We will be hosting monastics from SRF Mother Center this February 4th through 7th. All are invited and encouraged to attend the weekend’s events:

Thursday, February 4, Bro. Balananda and Br. Jason will conduct a  meditation and Satsanga from 7 to 8:30pm, followed by a Tea social. Please place your Satsanga questions in the basket in the foyer, or submit using the Contact Us section of our website (srfseattlecenter.org), as soon as possible. Please submit questions that would be relevant or helpful to the group. 

Friday, Feb 5th: There will be an outing and luncheon with the monastics, 10:00am-2:30pm. There is a sign-up sheet on the white board in the Social Room for those who wish to attend. Contact Lynn Dhanak for more information.

Saturday, Feb 6th: The monastics will lead a workshop entitled “Cultivating Divine Friendship through a Spirit of Servicefulness” from 10am-12:30pm. At 12:30 we will have a volunteer appreciation event with a catered luncheon. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you plan to attend. All are welcome. The regularly scheduled Kirtan meditation will be held 6-9pm.

Sunday, Feb 7th: Br. Balananda will lead the 10am Meditation and the 11am Service. Br. Jason will conduct a combined Sunday School class from 11 to 12 pm. We look forward to having your children partake of the spiritual fellowship that day. At 12 pm, please join us for our Potluck Social and bring a vegetarian dish to share. Thank you.

Announcements for 1/10/2016

Following the service today we will be taking down the Christmas tree and its ornaments. All, including children, are welcome to join in the fun.

We are pleased to announce that Bro. Balananda and Br. Jason will be coming to the Seattle Center February 4-7, 2016. They will be conducting the Thursday and Sunday services AND they will also be hosting a volunteer appreciation dinner on Saturday, February 5.  All who volunteer and all who are thinking about volunteering in the future will be welcome to attend.

Our Guru says, “United minds are bigger channels through which God’s power flows in a mightier way to individual souls.” To be united is for each of us to contribute to that “garland” with the blossoms of our concentration, our devotion, our stillness, and our silence, especially during group meditations. To that end, we have a new Meditation Etiquette document for those of us who are interested in group meditations here at the Center. Please pick one up in the foyer at your earliest convenience.

Announcements for 1/3/2016

On January 5 we will have the Birthday Commemoration Service for our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. Meditation will be from 7 – 7:40 and the service will begin at 8pm. Please bring a flower and donation in an envelope. Note: the Tuesday night Second Coming of Christ study group will be held as usual from 6:15-6:55pm on January 5th preceding the 7pm meditation. The 6 hour Commemorative Meditation will be held on the following Saturday, January 9, from 10am – 4pm.

Following the service on January 10 we will be taking down the Christmas tree and it’s ornaments. All, including children, are welcome to join in the fun.

On Thursday, December 31st, we will have a special 1 hour New Year’s Eve meditation from  11:30pm till 12:30am.

Announcements for 11/29/2015

We will have our next 4 hour pre-Christmas meditation on Saturday, December 5, from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday, November 28.

On December 6, after the service, we will be decorating our Christmas Tree. All are welcome to join us for this joyful event.

Announcements for 11/22/2015

Today, following the service, we will have our annual Shoe Boxes of Joy packing and wrapping party. Please join us in the Social Room to wrap and assemble boxes of needed items to be given to the elderly and disabled who are isolated from family and friends. Light snacks will be served.

Please note that the service this Thursday, November 26 is cancelled due to Thanksgiving.

We will have our first 4 hour pre-Christmas meditation from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday, November 28.

Announcements for 11/15/2015

We will have our annual General Meeting today at 12:15pm following the Sunday Reading Service. The Managing Council will present the annual budget and provide updates on other projects going on at the Center. All are invited to attend. Please note that there will not be a tea today so that we can begin our meeting on time.

On Sunday November 22nd, we will have our annual Shoe Boxes of Joy packing and wrapping party. Please join us in the Social Room to wrap and assemble boxes of needed items to be given to the elderly and disabled who are isolated from family and friends. Light snacks will be served. You can find the list of needed items on the table under the bulletin board. All contributions are greatly appreciated.

Announcements for 11/08/2015

We will have our next day of service on Saturday, November 14. The day will begin at 9:30am with a meditation. We will have another meditation at 12:30pm followed by a delicious vegetarian lunch at 1pm that will be provided. We will then finish projects until 4 pm. You may come for all or any part of the day. All, including children, are encouraged to attend.

The Seattle Center of SRF will hold a General Meeting on Nov 15th at 12:15pm following the Sunday Reading Service.
