Spanish Reading Service

Today directly following this service, we will have a reading service in Spanish from 12 – 1 p.m. All are welcome, and printouts will be provided with words to the prayers and chants.

Kriya Tour

SRF monastics Bro. Kalyanananda and Bro. Naradananda will be visiting Seattle this coming weekend for a Kriya Tour event which will include a public lecture, guided meditations, meditation technique reviews, and a Kriya Initiation Ceremony. This Thursday September 1, the 7 p.m. inspirational service here at the Center will be monastic-led. The remainder of the weekend’s events Fri – Sun will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Bellevue. As such, the Center here will be closed from Fri – Sun. Please visit our website srfseattlecenter.org for the full schedule. We hope you can all join us for a special weekend of absorption in our Guru’s Kriya Yoga teachings.

Flyers

We still have 8.5 x 11 posters and smaller take-one flyers available in the social room to advertise the September 22 public lecture, which we invite you to take and hang up or hand out to spread the word about the event. In the week following the event, kindly remove any posters you have hung up.

Lahiri Mahasaya Services

The following week, we will have two commemorative services in honor of our Param-Param-Guru Lahiri Mahasaya. On Tuesday September 26 we will commemorate his mahasamadhi and on Saturday September 30 his birthday. On each of these occasions, the service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 – 7:45 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter silently. Please bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

Bhajan Chanting Session

Following the Sunday reading service today, we will have a 1-hour chanting session of bhajans from 12 – 1 p.m. Longer periods of chanting will be interspersed with brief periods of meditation. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

Spanish Reading Service

A Spanish Sunday reading service will be held 12 – 1 p.m. next Sunday, September 17, immediately following the regular Sunday reading service. Printouts will be provided with words to the prayers and chants in Spanish.

Kriya Tour

We will be hosting monastics Bro. Kalyanananda and Bro. Naradananda Sept 21–24 for a weekend of spiritual inspiration that will include a public lecture, guided meditations, meditation technique reviews, and a Kriya Initiation Ceremony. We invite you to attend our tea social today which will include a provided lunch, starting at Noon directly after this service, and continuing after 1pm for those who stay for the chanting session.

Janmashtami Celebrations

On Thursday, September 7, we will celebrate Janmashtami, a Commemorative Service honoring the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 – 7:45 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter silently.  Please bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope as symbols of devotion and loyalty to our Gurus.

On Saturday, September 9, we will have a long Kirtan meditation for Bhagavan Krishna from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be a 30-minute break at 12:30 p.m. and group Energization Exercises at 9:40 a.m.

July Events

  • Join us for a potluck picnic at Hamlin Park after the service today. All are invited for food, fun, fellowship and games. If you are able to help with clean-up afterwards, that would be very welcome and appreciated. 
  • On Tuesday, July 25, we will have a commemorative meditation and service for Mahavatar Babaji. The commemorative service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 to 7:45 p.m. It is traditional to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope as symbols of our devotion and loyalty.

The 2023 SRF World Convocation begins on July 29 at our Center. We will be welcoming Self-Realization Fellowship monastics Sister Premamayee and Sister Chetana to Seattle. Convocation week begins next Saturday for us at the Center, with a local kirtan between 3-5 pm, followed by a social reception from 5-6pm to welcome the nuns. 

We are looking for volunteers to help with the setup and cleanup for the reception. If you are able to help, please see the volunteer at the Information Table after the service.

The following day, Sunday, July 30th, we will have a special Tea Social Event from 12:20 – 1:30 pm, as part of the activities for Convocation and the Nun’s visit. All are invited for an afternoon of enjoyment and fellowship. A lovely vegetarian menu will be served. We kindly request that if you are planning on bringing a food item that it be ready-to-serve, and doesn’t require heating or any special preparation. We look forward to seeing you there!

July Events

  • Following the Reading Service today, there will be a Sunday reading service in Spanish, held just shortly after 12pm. The service format will be the same as our usual reading services, using Spanish translations of service readings and chants provided by SRF. Printouts will be provided with words to the prayers and chants in Spanish. All are invited and welcome to attend. A second Sunday reading service in Spanish is also planned for Sunday, September 17, from 12-1pm.
  • On Saturday, July 22, we will have a 6-hour Kirtan meditation from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in commemoration of Mahavatar Babaji. Group Energization Exercises will be practiced at 9:40 a.m. and there will be a 30-minute break at 12:30 p.m.
  • Join us for a potluck picnic at Hamlin Park after the Sunday Services on July 23. All are invited for fun and fellowship. If you are able to do so, please bring a vegetarian dish to share.
  • On Tuesday, July 25, we will have a commemorative meditation and service for Mahavatar Babaji. The commemorative service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 to 7:40 p.m.

July Events

  • We will resume Tuesday evening meditations, starting next week on July 11. The meditation service lasts from 7-9 pm, and includes periods of prayer, chanting and silent meditation. Paramahansa Yogananda emphasized that the united devotion and concentration of many devotees can powerfully increase the depth of each individual’s meditation. Meditation services provide opportunities to practice the methods of concentration and meditation taught in the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons. All are welcome.
  • Join volunteers at the Center on Saturday, July 15, for the Day of Service. It will begin following the morning meditation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome to join in the joy of fellowship and service in cleaning, gardening and carrying out maintenance projects. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.
  • On Sunday, July 16th we will have a Sunday reading service in Spanish, held at 12pm following our usual 11am reading service. The service format will be the same as our usual reading services, using Spanish translations of service readings and chants provided by SRF. Printouts will be provided with words to the prayers and chants in Spanish. All are invited and welcome to attend.
