New Year’s Eve Meditation
Please join us for New Year’s Eve meditation on Sunday, December 31, from 11:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. as we greet the New Year.

Paramahansa Yogananda Birthday Commemorative Services
On January 5, 2024, we will have a commemorative service for Paramahansa Yogananda’s birthday which will begin at 8 pm, preceded by meditation from 7 – 7:45 pm. Please bring a flower and monetary donation in an envelope as symbols of devotion and loyalty to the Guru’s work. All are invited to a special birthday celebration with cake after services conclude.

Commemorative Long Meditation for Paramahansa Yogananda’s birthday
There will be a 6-hour meditation with Kirtan on January 6, 2024 from 10 am – 4 pm to commemorate the birthday of Paramahansa Yogananda.

All-day Christmas Meditation

One of the highlights of the year-end holiday season for Self-Realization Fellowship members and friends around the world is the All-Day Christmas Meditation, a tradition inaugurated by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1931 and which he personally conducted for many years. The all day, 8 hour, Christmas meditation will be held on Saturday, December 16th, from 10 am to 6 pm. 

Monastic Christmas Visit

SRF monastics Bro. Sarvananda and Brahmachari Klaus will visit our Center from December 14 – 18, and the schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday Dec 14: monastic-led Inspirational Service 7-8 p.m. followed by tea social
  • Friday Dec 15: no events are planned for this day as we prepare for the All-Day Christmas Meditation the following day
  • Saturday Dec 16: monastic-led All-Day Christmas meditation with kirtan 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Newcomers are asked to review the information sheet about the All-Day Christmas meditation available on the website, and will be available in the Social Room starting next week. 
  • Sunday Dec 17: monastic-led 10 a.m. meditation and 11 a.m. service followed by our Christmas Social potluck.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.
  • Monday Dec 18: informal outing with monastics. Current plan is to meet at the Woodland Park Zoo for a walk followed by lunch.  If you are interested to attend please sign up on the sheet in the social room at the Information Table. Your email or phone are needed so we can contact you in case of any change in plans. Questions about the outing can be directed to Lynnie Dhanak or Urmila Joshi-Phadnis.

Pre-Christmas and All-day Christmas Meditation

There will be a 4 hour pre-Christmas kirtan meditation held next Saturday December 9. Day of Service

Thank you to our many volunteers who participated in the Day of Service held last Saturday. The giving of your time and your selfless efforts are so appreciated, and the Center benefits from the focused attention to maintenance and organization tasks. For those who haven’t yet had the opportunity to participate in a Day of Service, our next one will be held in the New Year, and announced ahead of time. 

Diwali Tea Social

Directly following the service, there will be a special tea social to commemorate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which is being celebrated throughout India today. All are welcome to share in the joy of fellowship, and enjoy the food and sweets prepared by our volunteers. We thank everyone who helped to make this a special occasion for all gathered here today.

Youth Group Kirtan November 12

On Sunday November 12, our Youth will lead the Kirtan during the Reading Service. Since November 12 also falls on the celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, there will be a special tea social afterwards commemorating it with Indian food and sweets. All are invited to attend.

Chanting Session in Spanish & English

Directly following the Sunday reading service today, we will have a 1-hour chanting session of Cosmic Chants in a combination of Spanish and English, held in the chapel starting at 12 p.m. Printed sheets will be provided with the words to the chants. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

Day of Service November 4

On Saturday November 4 we will have a Day of Service. Join in the joy of fellowship and service in cleaning, gardening, organizing and carrying out maintenance tasks at the Center. Following the Saturday morning meditation which ends at 1 p.m. lunch will be provided, then we will work on service projects up to 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome at the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time.

Day of Service November 4

Join volunteers at the Center on Saturday November 4, for some organizing, cleaning and landscaping duties. Day of Service will begin following the morning meditation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome to join in the joy of fellowship and service in cleaning, gardening and carrying out maintenance projects. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

One-Day Retreat

All are invited to attend a One-Day Retreat at the Center on Saturday October 21, between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be periods of group meditation, Energization Exercises, readings, kirtan, a lunch break, and free-time to walk the grounds, read quietly, or meditate.
