The annual Helping Hearts Farm to Food Bank Project will have it’s Bake Sale Fund Drive on Sunday April 23rd. Please join us for snacks, sweet treats and chai. The funds from this bake sale will be used to purchase a weekly share of fresh vegetables to be given to the HopeLink Shoreline Food Bank for 20 weeks this summer. Our goal is to raise $1,300. Thank you in advance for your generosity to the people in our neighboring community. Financial contributions are welcome.

Today as we celebrate Easter, please join us for our Easter Potluck after the service. After the potluck, we will show a video of Bro. Anandamoy’s memorial service at 1pm. The video is 1 hr 23 min long.  All are invited to stay and watch the video.

We invite all children and teens between the ages of 7 to 18 to the SRF Summer Day Program in Encinitas. This program ushers in a new era in training for youth in our Guru’s How-to-Live spiritual principles. With guidance from SRF monastics, teens and children will have an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, learn SRF techniques of meditation, engage in fun activities and create friendships with spiritually-minded peers. The program for Girls will be between June 26-30 and for Boys between July 3-7. Please see the flyer describing the program, located on the Information table, or pick up a flyer from our Sunday School. You are welcome to register via the SRF website home page and click on “2017 Youth Events” under the “Events” section.

Our annual monastic-led Seabeck Retreat will be held this year June 9-11.  You can register and find more information on our website.

On Friday, April 14,  there will be a three hour Kirtan meditation from 7 to 10pm for Good Friday. On Saturday, April 15 we will have a 6 hour Easter meditation from 3 – 9pm. On Sunday, April 16, we will celebrate Easter. We will begin with our Easter Sunrise service at 7am. Our regular meditation at 10am will be followed our by our 11am Sunday Service. We will then have an Easter Potluck at 12pm. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. After the potluck, we will show a video of Bro. Anandamoy’s memorial service at 1pm. Announcements for 4/2/2017

Beginning in April, the “Second Coming of Christ” study group is moving from Tuesday evenings to Thursdays. The study sessions will be held in the Sunday School room as usual, and will go from 6:45pm to 7:25pm, preceding the Thursday inspirational service which begins in the chapel at 7:30. The first Thursday session will be April 6th. All are welcome and invited to join.

Announcements for 3/26/2017

Beginning in April, the “Second Coming of Christ” study group is moving from Tuesday evenings to Thursdays. Today we will be showing the DVD: “Paramahansa Yogananda: The Early Years in America”

This documentary follows the great Master’s footsteps during his pioneering efforts to introduce the West to the timeless spiritual heritage of the East. It features beautiful archival photographs of Paramahansa Yogananda and his activities, as well as rare motion-picture footage of the Guru, scenes of the places where he lived and taught, and poignant anecdotes of students and friends whose lives he profoundly changed.

We will have another meditation at 12:30pm followed by a delicious vegetarian lunch at 1pm that will be provided. Then we will finish up projects till 4pm. You may come for all or any part of the day.  All, including children, are encouraged to attend.

We will be having special services this week to commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Paramahansa Yogananda on Tuesday, March 7 and the Mahasamadhi of Swami Sri Yukteswar on Thursday, March 9th . On each of these occasions we will have silent meditation from 7 – 7:40pm followed by the Commemorative Service at 8pm.  Those attending the Commemorative Services are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering.  As a reminder, the ushers will allow late arrivals to quietly enter and join the meditation during 7 – 7:40pm preceding the Commemorative Services.

This Saturday, March 4th, we will hold a 6-hour meditation with Kirtan from 3-9pm to commemorate the Mahasamadhis of our Guru Paramahansa Yogananda and our Param Guru Swami Sri Yukteswar.

February 12, 2017 Announcements

Helping Hearts Committee will be meeting next Sunday the 19th of February from 12:15 to 1:15 after the Sunday Service.  If you would like to learn more about this committee, please feel free to join us next week.  We will most likely be gathering in the Sunday School room.

The Center Representatives Conference will be held on Wednesday during Convocation this year, instead of the Saturday preceding Convocation.  All are welcome to attend this event.  Please see the 1-page printout on the bulletin board for more information.

Next week, Saturday Feb 18th, we will hold a One-Day Retreat here at the Center from 10am – 4pm.  The retreat will include group Energization Exercises, readings from Master’s teachings, periods of group meditation & chanting, and free time.  If you wish, please bring a sack lunch to eat during the lunch break.

Please stay around briefly after the Service to allow the Sunday School children to join us in the chapel and present a token of thank you to our monastic visitors.  Then we will go out into the courtyard near the sundial for a group photo.  After the photo, please join us in the social room for our potluck and fellowship.

At 1pm Brother Devananda will conduct a wedding ceremony for our members Susanne Ashland and Brian Johnson.  All are invited and encouraged to attend the wedding.

(Note: at Bro. Devananda’s request, our Center Coordinator Jeremy Jones gave a summary to the congregation about our Center’s management structure and decision making as guided by the bylaws, and why we incorporated and adopted the bylaws.)
