Please join us for our Fall Harvest potluck today following the Service.

Thanks to all who attended the quarterly Day of Service last week.  As part of the tidying process, we have many items to give away in the social on the round table.  The contents of the Lost-and-Found basket is also on a table in the Social Room, so please take a look and claim any items that our yours.  Moving forward, we will donate Lost-and-Found items quarterly.

There is a Devotee-to-Devotee basket in the social room to be used if you need to leave an item for another member to pick up. If you use the basket, please label your item with the name of the person you are leaving it for and the date.  Also, be sure to inform the person you are giving the item to, that it is there. Thanks for your help in keeping our Center clean and tidy.

During next Sunday’s 11am Service we will have a DVD showing of Brother Anandamoy’s talk “The Wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita” Part 2.

Our subject for today’s reading is: “The Most Tempting Temptation”.

October 9 Announcements

Announcements for 10/09/2016

This coming Saturday October 15th we will host a One Day Retreat here at the Center from 10 am to 4 pm. As part of the retreat we will have guided group practice of Energization Exercises, kirtan meditation and inspirational reading. We will also have free time to relax, take short walks, practice the presence of God, and in general enjoy the day with God, retreating from the concerns and thoughts of day-to-day activities. There will be printed flyers with the detailed schedule of the One Day Retreat posted on the door of the chapel today after the Service for reference.

We will have our Fall Harvest potluck on Sunday October 16 following the 11 am Reading Service. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.

Our subject for today’s reading is: “Finding God in Family Life”.

10-02-2016 Announcements

Announcements for 10/02/2016

Our quarterly Day of Service is a wonderful opportunity to serve at the Center and one of the best ways to get to know other members. Paramahansa Yogananda initiated the tradition of holding a Day of Service not only to perform needed tasks, but also to cultivate the spiritual community through meditation and serving together.

Our next Day of Service is on Saturday, October 8. Group meditations will be held at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm. A vegetarian lunch will be provided at 1 pm. We will work on cleaning, maintenance, gardening, and other projects till 4 pm. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

We are happy to inform you that on October 15th Saturday we will host a one day retreat at the center from 10am to 4pm. 9/25/2016 Announcements

Announcements for 9/25/2016

This coming week we will have two Commemorative Services. On Monday, September 26, we will commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya, and on Friday, September 30, we will celebrate his birthday. On each date, there will be a silent meditation from 7 – 7:40 pm. The usher will allow people to enter quietly. The meditation will be followed by the Commemorative Service from 8 – 9:30 pm. Please bring a flower and donation to offer during the Commemorative Service.

Please join us for an inspiring day of spiritual fellowship and an opportunity to perform maintenance, gardening, and cleaning tasks at the Seattle Center of SRF. The Day of Service is a wonderful opportunity to serve at the Center and one of the best ways to get to know other members. We have reached an important milestone in our ADA Bathroom construction project.  The City of Shoreline has signed off the foundation preparation and plumbing rough-ins.  In the coming weeks, the foundation will be poured and the exterior walls will be framed.

Thank you to all who donated items to the silent auction that was held on India Night, and for those who placed bids and bought items. The auction was a great success and we had over 80 attendees for India Night.

On Saturday, September 24 there will be a long kirtan meditation from 3 to 9pm to commemorate Lahiri Mahasaya.

Our revered Brother Anandamoy, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda and monk of Self-Realization Fellowship for more than 65 years, passed away peacefully at SRF’s International Headquarters on Mount Washington in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, September 6, 2016.

As a much-loved and deeply respected minister of SRF, Brother Anandamoy inspired and uplifted thousands through his selfless life and profound understanding of the spiritual life and the Kriya Yoga teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. He has left a lasting legacy in the spiritual lives of countless souls around the world whom he helped and encouraged on the path to God for so many years.

A public memorial service will be held in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 24 in Los Angeles, CA, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.

Whether or not you plan to attend the memorial service, we invite you to join with all of us in Spirit as we send Brother Anandamoy our love and gratitude during his transition into the blessed realms of divine freedom and joy, and as we rejoice in his inspiring and exemplary life.

9-4-2016 Announcements

Announcements for 9/4/2015

We are happy to announce that we’ll be celebrating India Night on Saturday, September 10 here at the Center. There will be a classical music program featuring local artists from the Seattle area, which take us on a journey through the devotional lore of India through the eyes of some of her great saints. Following that we will have a skit by our Center members depicting a story taken from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda.

The suggested donation for the meal and program will be $15; children under 12 are free. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 6:30pm.

The deadline for donating items for the silent auction is today after the Service.  Please see Julie Rose with any questions.

Please join us today after the service for light refreshments in the Social Room. We invite you to visit our Information Table in the Social Room if you have questions about our Center. You can also  pick up our quarterly calendar and other free literature there.

We are happy to announce that we’ll be celebrating India Night on Saturday, September 10 at our Center.  The suggested donation for the meal and program will be $15;children under 12 are free. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 6:30 p.m.

As part of the India Night activities we will have a silent auction as a fundraiser toward ongoing improvements to our Center and grounds. We are accepting donations of devotional works of art, framed pictures, musical instruments, vintage publications, etc, to be submitted by next Sunday September 4.  Donation forms and additional information will be posted on the bulletin board.  For more information, please contact Julie Rose, who will be at the information table after the service.

August 21, 2016 Announcements

On Thursday, August 25, we will have a Commemorative Service for the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The Commemorative Service will begin at 8 pm and be preceded by a silent meditation at 7 pm. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter quietly preserving the sacred atmosphere.  Those attending the Commemorative Service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

On Saturday, August 27, we will be have a Kirtan meditation for Bhagavan Krishna from 3 to 9 pm.

Please join us today after the service for light refreshments in the Social Room. We invite you to visit our Information Table in the Social Room to pick up our quarterly calendar and other Free Literature, or if you have questions about our Center.

August 14, 2016 Announcements

We are happy to let you know that we’ll be celebrating India Night on Saturday, September 10 at our Center. This event will Center around the true Spirit of India that Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda brought to us almost 100 years ago. We will honor Mother India, our spiritual homeland with festive decorations, a featured silent auction, a gourmet vegetarian Indian meal, and an uplifting devotional program. We encourage all of you to wear your best Indian dress and enjoy this special fellowship event. Tickets to the event will be sold at the door on September 10. More information with a flyer about the event will be forthcoming. We look forward to your presence and participation.

At this time we are in need of volunteers and area leaders for audio-visual, setup and clean-up as well as many helping hands in the area of decorations, food serving, ticket sales, and program coordination. We will have volunteer sign-up sheets at the Info Table starting today after the Service.
