Announcements for Sunday, October 21, 2018

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, October 27th. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter quietly and join the last hour of the group meditation in the chapel either at 12:00 noon or 12:30 p.m. during the chanting. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time that you can stay.

Please mark you calendars for our 2018 General Membership Meeting on November 11th after the Sunday Services. We would also like to invite any newer members who are attending regularly, but haven’t signed up to become Voting Members, to consider doing so.

Our regular 10 a.m. 3-hour Saturday meditation on November 3rd will include Kirtan.  As usual, Group Energization Exercises will be practiced at 9:40 a.m.

The subject for today’s service is, Karma: the Law of Cosmic Justice.

Announcements for Sunday, October 14, 2018

All are invited to attend a one day retreat at our Center on Saturday, October 20th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be periods of group meditation, Energization Exercises, readings, kirtan, a lunch break, and free-time to walk the grounds, read quietly, or meditate. The detailed schedule for the day is listed on our website’s online calendar.

Announcements for Sunday, September 30, 2018

Tonight we will celebrate the Birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya. There will be a silent meditation at 7pm and the      Commemorative service will begin at 8. Please bring a flower and an envelope with a monetary donation.

Our Thursday Scripture Study Group, which meets on Thursdays at 6:45pm preceding the 7:30pm Inspirational Service, has completed Volume 1 of Second Coming of Christ and has begun Volume 2.  For those who haven’t attended, the format is that one person at a time reads a few paragraphs, and then we meditate for a couple minutes before moving to the next paragraph. All are welcome to attend, to read or just to listen. If you have any questions, please talk with Julie Rose.

Our Usher Committee is in need volunteers for Thursday, Sunday, and Commemorative services.  If you are interested or have any questions, please speak with Steven Gary.

Announcements for Sunday, September 23, 2018

We have several special services this coming week:

  • Wednesday, September 26, we will commemorate the Mahasamadhi of our Param Param Guru Lahiri Mahasaya.
  • Saturday, September 29, there will be a long kirtan meditation from 3 – 9pm, which will include a 30-minute break at 5:30 and group Energization Exercises at 5:40. (Note that the usual 3-hour morning meditation is cancelled that day.)
  • Sunday, September 30, we will celebrate the Birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya.
  • For the two Commemorative services, we’ll have silent meditation at 7pm and the Commemorative service at 8. Please bring a flower and an envelope with a monetary donation to those services.

After the service today we will go to the sundial courtyard for a group photo with the monastics and then have our Fall Harvest Potluck.  After the picture, we’d like to offer the monks the chance to go through the line first and then we’ll all follow and enjoy fellowship together.

Our monastic counselor Bro. Devananda, will visit our Center along with Br. Troy this coming weekend September 20 – 23. The schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, Sept 20: Monastic-led Inspirational Service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Tea Reception.
  • Friday, Sept 21: Monastic-led Introspection Workshop 7 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept 22: Kirtan meditation led by Bro. Devananda 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. preceded by group EE’s led by Br. Troy at 8:40 a.m.
  • Sunday, Sept 23: Monastic-led 10 a.m. meditation and 11 a.m. service which will include a satsang (answers to spiritual questions).  Please submit your questions for the monastics to the box in the social room or email them to info@srfseattlecenter.org. After the services at 12 p.m. we will have our annual Fall Harvest Potluck with monastics. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.

On Wednesday, September 26, we will commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya. There will be a silent meditation from 7 – 7:40 p.m., during which you may enter silently at anytime, followed by the Commemorative Service from 8 – 9:30 p.m.

Today we will celebrate Janmashtami with a Commemorative Service honoring the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The service will begin at 8 pm and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 – 7:40 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter silently.  Please bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

The Flower Committee would like to request that people refrain from watering the indoor plants at our Center, because it can cause the plants to become overwatered. There are volunteers assigned to water each of the indoor plants according to their needs. Thanks for your understanding.
