Announcements for Sunday, August 12, 2018

We will host a visit from our monastic counselor Bro. Devananda and Br. Troy this September 20 – 23.  The detailed schedule is in our recent August Newsletter and on our website calendar.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, August 18th. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter quietly and join the last hour of the group meditation in the chapel either at 12:00 noon or 12:30 p.m. during a period of chanting. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time that you can stay.

On Saturday, August 25, we will have a Kirtan meditation for Janmashtami from 3 to 9 p.m.  There will be a 30-minute break at 5:30 p.m. with group Energization Exercises practiced at 5:40 p.m.

On Sunday, September 2, we will celebrate Janmashtami, a Commemorative Service honoring the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The service will begin at 8 pm and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 – 7:40 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter silently.  Please bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

The subject for today’s service is, “The Steps That Lead to God”.

Announcements for Sunday, August 5, 2018

For those who are unable to attend SRF Convocation in Los Angeles this week, SRF President Brother Chidananda’s Satsanga on Friday August 10th from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. will be livestreamed on SRF’s YouTube channel.

We will host a visit from our monastic counselor Bro. Devananda and Br. Troy this September 20 – 23.  Please visit our Center’s website for scheduling details.

Due to many of our volunteers being at SRF Convocation, the usual 3-hour meditation will be cancelled this Saturday August 11, and Sunday School will be cancelled on Sunday August 12.

During the upcoming SRF Convocation in Los Angeles, our annual group dinner for Seattle-area devotees will be held Wednesday, August 8th, at 5:30 pm, at the Lakeside Bistro in the Bonaventure Hotel. The price for the buffet will be $28/person which includes tax and tip.All are invited to join. For those who who don’t wish to eat, but want to come for fellowship, please feel free.

Also during Convocation, all are welcome to attend the annual Center Representatives’ Conference (CRC) on Thursday, August 9 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. in the California Ballroom. The conference will provide an opportunity to become more familiar with our Guru’s spiritual ideals for Self-Realization Fellowship centers and meditation groups. No advanced registration is required this year, and donations can be made at the event or in the Center Department room at Convocation.

On Wednesday, July 25, we will have a commemorative meditation and service for Mahavatar Babaji. The commemorative service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 to 7:40 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter quietly, preserving the sacred atmosphere. Those attending the commemorative service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

Announcements for Sunday, June 17, 2018

All are invited to our annual outdoor Kirtan meditation in the gardens at the Seattle Center of SRF on Saturday June 23, from 3 until 9 p.m. It is a special time to commemorate both the Summer Solstice and the International Day of Yoga. We will have a break from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with group practice of Energization Exercises at 5:40 p.m. We are looking for 4 volunteers to help set up the outdoor canopy and chairs at 1:30 p.m. on June 23.  If you are available, please contact Anand Balachandran. Note: the usual 3-hour Saturday morning 10 a.m. meditation is cancelled that day.

The Flower Committee is in need of additional volunteers. The duties have been scaled back significantly, and the commitment can be as little as 2 or 3 hours per quarter. It is a beautiful and fun way to serve. If interested, please contact Anshika Kumar.

We will be celebrating our Heavenly Father and our earthly fathers on Sunday, June 17th with a simple Father’s Day Tea Reception after regular services conclude. All are welcome. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, and please feel free to contribute a vegetarian appetizer or a dessert to share.

The Flower Committee is in need of additional volunteers. The duties have been scaled back significantly, and the commitment can be as little as 2 or 3 hours per quarter. It is a beautiful and fun way to serve. If interested, please contact Anshika Kumar.
