Announcements for Sunday, December 9, 2018
This Wednesday, December 12 at 6 p.m., SRF’s YouTube channel will livestream an announcement from our President, Brother Chidananda, in which he will share news about the launch of the new edition of the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons. At Center Department’s suggestion, we will host a special viewing of the live-streamed video here at the Center at 6pm. After the video we will have a chant and brief meditation together.
Our annual 8-hour All-Day Christmas Meditation will held from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. this coming Saturday, December 15. Of this special occasion, Paramahansa Yogananda said: “The ideal is to honour Christ in spirit in meditation from morning till evening, absorbed in feeling in one’s own consciousness the Infinite Christ that was born in Jesus. That experience is one of profound peace and joy, more than a human heart has ever known — expanding into an all-embracing consciousness.”
Please obtain a copy of the info sheet giving suggestions how to prepare for the All-Day Christmas Meditation from the social room and study it prior to Saturday. Here are a few key points:
- Please arrive 30 minutes early to select a seat and get settled. Energization Exercises will be practiced individually prior to 10 a.m.
- There will be an intermission approximately halfway through the 8-hour meditation. If you are only able to attend half of the meditation, please come to the first half.
- If you have a cough or a cold, please meditate at home or in our Sunday School rooms instead of in the main chapel, to avoid disturbing others with coughing or moving the body.
- Please bring a piece of fruit and a monetary offering in an envelope which can be placed in the baskets located on the bench immediately outside the chapel doors, prior to the meditation.
On Sunday, December 16 we will have our Christmas potluck at 12pm after the Sunday services. All are invited to join for food and spiritual fellowship. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.
The subject for today’s service is, “Freedom From Habit Slavery.”
