Announcements for Sunday July 28, 2019

Many of our members will attend this year’s annual SRF Convocation August 4 – 10.  Note that Sunday School will be canceled on both August 4 and August 11 due to many of our volunteers attending Convocation.  Tuesday meditation on August 6 will be canceled. The Saturday meditations and Thursday service at the Center will be held as usual during Convocation week. The Study Group on Thursday August 8 is canceled.

For those not attending Convocation, SRF is offering livestreams of five events during Convocation on a pay-per-view basis.  We will be hosting viewings for three of these events here at the Center:

• On Sunday, August 4, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.: “The ‘Hidden’ Love and Joy of God”
• On Friday, August 9, 7:30 p.m.: Satsanga with Brother Chidananda (president and spiritual head of SRF)
• On Saturday, August 10, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.:“Divine Friendship: Seeing God in All”

For those attending the livestream events, there is a suggested donation of $5 per event which we’ll use to purchase the livestreams.  The satsanga with Bro. Chidananda is offered free.

For those who wish to see the livestreams at home, information can be obtained from the main SRF website.

Announcements for Sunday July 21, 2019

Our annual summer picnic will be held today at nearby Hamlin Park after the services. All are invited for food, fellowship, and games. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. The center will provide veggie burgers, buns and condiments. Directions to Hamlin Park are posted on the bulletin board in the social room.

On Thursday July 25, we will have a commemorative service for Mahavatar Babaji beginning at 8 p.m. The service will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 to 7:40 p.m, during which late arrivals may enter quietly. Those attending the commemorative service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

On Saturday July 27, we will have a 6-hour Kirtan meditation from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in commemoration of Mahavatar Babaji. Group Energization Exercises will be practiced at 9:40 a.m. and there will be a 30-minute break at 12:30 p.m.

We are pleased to share that our Center’s new front doors have been installed!  In addition to the aesthetic upgrade, the glass design allows light in, brightening our foyer, and enables our greeters to see when people are coming to open the door and welcome them.  Soon we will install shades on the front and rear doors.

Announcements for Sunday June 2, 2019

Our annual retreat at Seabeck will be held this year June 7 – 9 led by Bro. Sevananda and Br. Kapildeo.

On Saturday evening during the Seabeck Retreat, the monastics will give a Satsanga (answers to spiritual questions). If you have spiritual questions that may be beneficial to the group, please submit them to the box in the social room, or through the Contact Us form on our Center’s website.

Next Thursday June 6, our weekly Inspirational Service at the Seattle Center of SRF will be led by monastics. Please note the start time of 7 p.m. Following the service at 8 p.m. there will be tea and snacks in the social room with the monastics. The study group will be cancelled that day.

During Seabeck retreat weekend, parents are being notified that the Sunday School and Youth Group will be canceled on Sunday June 9th.

The year 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of the arrival of our beloved Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, in the United States. Plans are underway for Self- Realization Fellowship to commemorate this momentous historical event with several celebratory activities. As part of this celebration, Mother Center is collecting written testimonials from devotees and friends whose lives have been touched by our beloved Guru and his Kriya Yoga path. Please see the detailed letter on our social room bulletin board with more information about providing a testimonial.

Announcements for Sunday May 26, 2019

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, June 1st. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter quietly and join the last hour of the group meditation in the chapel either at 12:00 noon or 12:30 p.m. chanting. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time that you can stay.
