“Many souls will come to this place seeking Truth, and even as they feel the blessed vibration of
the Masters, they will feel also the devotion of your souls for God, and will be inspired to greater
love for Him.”
— Paramahansa Yogananda
By the grace of our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, our Center is undertaking a renovation of the Social Room encompassing the Kitchen and Bookroom to cultivate a space that is more reverent and functional for all.
We moved into this building in Shoreline in 1996, and have enjoyed nearly three decades of devotion and fellowship within these walls. The meditation sanctuary has remained a place of enduring tranquility; yet the Social Room, which serves as our gathering place for socials, monastic visits, and fellowship gatherings, has shown the natural wear of time and the demands of a growing congregation. Portions of the space trace their origins to the building’s initial construction in 1964, and as one can see from the pictures below, the need for thoughtful renewal has become ever clearer.
The moment has come to tend to this space with the reverence it deserves — investing not only in the present needs of our community, but in the vitality and warmth of our shared space for the decades ahead. On the right side of this page, you will find information pertaining to the renovation projects for the Kitchen and Bookroom.
The remodeling projects being considered are intended not only to improve the functionality of the spaces, but also to bring their appearance into greater harmony with the beauty and standards exemplified in other Self-Realization Fellowship Temples and Centers.
An Invitation to Give
These renovations are an investment in the future of our Center and the inspiration and service it provides. Every gift, large or small, brings us closer to creating a space that reflects the simplicity and sacred atmosphere of SRF temples, while serving the practical needs of our growing membership. It will be ready to serve our spiritual family for present and future generations.
The estimated cost to accomplish this remodel is $70,000. We are able to use $30,000 of our Center’s funds to cover a portion of the cost, and we are launching this fundraiser campaign to raise the remaining $40,000.
