Our annual summer picnic will be held at nearby Hamlin Park following the services next Sunday July 22.  All are invited for food, fellowship, and games. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. The center will provide veggie burgers, buns and condiments. Directions to Hamlin Park will be on the bulletin board in the social room.

On Wednesday, July 25, we will have a commemorative meditation and service for Mahavatar Babaji. The commemorative service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 to 7:40 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter quietly, preserving the sacred atmosphere. Those attending the commemorative service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

On Saturday, July 28, we will have a Kirtan meditation for Mahavatar Babaji from 3 to 9 p.m.  There will be a 30-minute break at 5:30 p.m. with group Energization Exercises practiced at 5:40 p.m.

We will host a visit from our monastic counselor Bro. Devananda this September 20 – 23.  Please refer to our July e-newsletter or the Summer Quarterly Events Schedule (available at the Information Table) for the detailed scheduled so you can mark your calendar.

This Saturday July 7 our weekly 10am 3-hour meditation will include Kirtan.  As always, group Energization Exercises will be practiced at 9:40 a.m. preceding the meditation.

Announcements for Sunday, June 17, 2018

All are invited to our annual outdoor Kirtan meditation in the gardens at the Seattle Center of SRF on Saturday June 23, from 3 until 9 p.m. It is a special time to commemorate both the Summer Solstice and the International Day of Yoga. We will have a break from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with group practice of Energization Exercises at 5:40 p.m. We are looking for 4 volunteers to help set up the outdoor canopy and chairs at 1:30 p.m. on June 23.  If you are available, please contact Anand Balachandran. Note: the usual 3-hour Saturday morning 10 a.m. meditation is cancelled that day.

We will be celebrating our Heavenly Father and our earthly fathers on Sunday, June 17th with a simple Father’s Day Tea Reception after regular services conclude. All are welcome. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, and please feel free to contribute a vegetarian appetizer or a dessert to share.

The Flower Committee is in need of additional volunteers. The duties have been scaled back significantly, and the commitment can be as little as 2 or 3 hours per quarter. It is a beautiful and fun way to serve. If interested, please contact Anshika Kumar.

We will host SRF monastics Brother Ritananda and Brother Nikhilananda for this year’s Seabeck Retreat June 8-10. Please visit the Seabeck Retreat menu on our Center’s website for further information.

Note to parents: Sunday School is canceled on Sunday June 10 during the Seabeck retreat weekend.

On Saturday evening during the Seabeck Retreat, the monastics will give a satsanga (answers to spiritual questions).  They have requested that we provide our questions ahead of time if possible. If you have spiritual questions that may be beneficial to the group, please submit them to the box in the social room, or through the Contact Us form on our Center’s website.

Preceding the Seabeck Retreat, the monastics will lead the Thursday Inspirational Service on June 7 at 7:30 pm here at the Center.  Prior to the Inspirational Service, Bro. Nikhilananda will conduct a Memorial Service at 6:30 pm for Ron Reedy, husband of our member Bridget Reedy.  Ron passed away January 20 this year. All are invited to attend the memorial service and send our united love and friendship to Ron.

For those attending this year’s SRF Convocation, all are welcome to attend the annual Center Representatives’ Conference (CRC) on Thursday, August 9 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm in the California Ballroom. The conference will provide an opportunity to become more familiar with our Guru’s spiritual ideals for Self-Realization Fellowship centers and meditation groups. No advanced registration is required this year, and donations can be made at the event or in the Center Department room at Convocation.

SRF Youth Services invites all children and teens between the ages of 7 and 18 to the SRF Summer Day Program in Encinitas. With guidance from SRF monastics, teens and children will have an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, learn SRF techniques of meditation, engage in fun activities and create friendships with spiritually-minded peers. The program also features a “Parent’s Day” at the Encinitas Temple, that will include a class and satsanga given by the monastics on spiritual parenting. The girls’ week will be June 25-29 and the boys’ week July 2-6. Please see the flyer describing the program, located on the Information table in the Social Room, or visit the SRF website home page and click on “Youth Events.”

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, May 19th. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter quietly and join the meditation in the chapel either at 12:00 noon or 12:30 p.m. during a chant. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time that you can stay.

All are invited to celebrate our Divine Mother and earthly mothers today with a Mother’s Day Tea Reception after today’s service.
