Lahiri Mahasaya Commemoratives

We will have two commemorative services and a 6-hour kirtan meditation in honor of our param-param Guru Lahiri Mahasaya. 

On Thursday, September 26, we will have a commemorative service for the mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya with meditation from 7:00 – 7:45 p.m., followed by the service at 8 p.m. Please bring a flower and donation to offer during the service.

On Saturday, September 28, there will be group practice of energization exercises at 9:40 a.m. followed by long kirtan meditation from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, with a 30 minute break at 1 p.m. 

On Monday, September 30, the birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya will be commemorated with a meditation from 7:00 – 7:45 p.m., followed by a service at 8:00 p.m. Please bring a flower and donation to offer during that service.

Monastic Visit:

We look forward to welcoming Brothers Devananda and Bhimananda to our Center from October 3 to 8. The itinerary will include group meditations and services, tea social, outdoor outing, and a workshop on Introspection. The schedule is now posted on the website at srfseattlecenter.org, and will be on the quarterly flyer also. You can sign up for a walk around Green Lake with the monastics on the signup sheet at the Information Table. Youth Group Kirtan During Service Sunday, September 22

On Sunday, September 22, we will have kirtan during the reading service led by our Youth Kirtan Group. The adult Kirtan Group will lead the 10 a.m. meditation service that day.

Chanting Session September 8

Following the Reading Service today, we will have a 1 hour session of chanting in the chapel from 12 – 1 p.m. The theme of this chanting session will be “Hidden Gems of the Cosmic Chants book” in which we will delve deeply into the less-often-played chants in the Cosmic Chants book. The session will be mostly continuous chanting interspersed with a few short periods of meditation. All are welcome for any length of time.

On Monday, August 26, we will celebrate Janmashtami, a Commemorative Service honoring the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The service will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by a silent meditation from 7 – 7:45 p.m. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter quietly. It is customary to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope as symbols of our devotion and loyalty to Krishna and the lineage of SRF Gurus.

Spanish Reading Service

There will be a Spanish Reading Service today from 12:15 – 1:15 p.m here in the chapel. Printouts will be provided with words to the prayers and chants in Spanish, and all are welcome to attend!

Fall Monastic Visit

It is our great joy to announce that we will host SRF monastics, Brother Devananda and Brother Bhimananda, at the Seattle Center of SRF between the dates of October 3 – 8, 2024. The itinerary will include group meditations and services, tea social, outdoor outing, and a workshop on Introspection. More details will be available as they are finalized, and will be announced on the Center website. We hope you will join in to experience spiritual upliftment and divine fellowship during these Center events.

Day of Service:

Our next Day of Service will be next Saturday on August 10. It will begin following the morning meditation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome to join in the joy of fellowship and service in cleaning, organizing, gardening and carrying out maintenance projects. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time.

A Friendly Reminder:

If you are feeling unwell or actively coughing from a viral illness, we request that you refrain from attending services in person until recovered to protect those vulnerable to infections. Thank you for your understanding, and your extension of love and kindness for the welfare of others. 

Hamlin Park Picnic:

The annual Hamlin Park Picnic and Potluck will take place today after the service. All are invited for food, fellowship, and games at Hamlin Park in Shoreline between 12:15 to 2pm. 

Day of Service:

The 2024 SRF World Convocation, which is a weeklong immersion in Paramahansa Yogananda’s “how-to-live” teachings and meditation techniques, guided group meditations and kirtans (devotional chanting), wrapped up yesterday, but you can still stream most of the classes and sessions online by visiting convocation.yogananda.org. 

Mahavatar Babaji Commemorative Service and Kirtan Meditation:

On Thursday, July 25, we will have a commemorative service for Mahavatar Babaji. The commemorative service will begin at 8 pm and be preceded by a silent meditation from 7-7:45 pm. Those attending the Commemorative Service are asked to bring a flower as a devotional offering and a monetary offering to support the work of our Guru.

On Saturday, July 27, we will be have a kirtan meditation for Mahavatar Babaji from 10 am to 4 pm.

Hamlin Park Picnic:
