<Start by reading the letter from the board of directors regarding Sri Mrinalini Mata’s passing.>

This Thursday, August 17th, we will hold a special prayer and meditation service to honor the life and passing of our beloved Sri Mrinalini Mata.  The times will be the same as our usual Thursday schedule, with the service being 7:30 – 8:30 pm, followed by a prayer and healing service lasting until 8:50 pm.

On Monday, August 14th (tomorrow) we will celebrate Janmashtami, a Commemorative Service honoring the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The service will begin at 8 pm and will be preceded by silent meditation from 7 – 7:40pm. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter silently.  Please bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

This Saturday, August 19th, we will have a long Kirtan meditation for Bhagavan Krishna from 3 – 9 pm. There will be a break at 5:30 pm and group Energization Exercises at 5:40 pm.

July 30th, 2017 Announcements

During the upcoming SRF Convocation in Los Angeles, our annual group dinner for Seattle-area devotees will be held Wednesday, August 9th, 5:30 pm, at the Lakeside Bistro in the Bonaventure Hotel.  The price this year will be $26.50/person for the buffet.  This price includes tax and tip.  All are invited to join.  For those who who don’t wish to eat, but want to come for fellowship, please feel free.

Sunday School will be canceled on both August 6th and August 13th due to SRF Convocation.

July 16th, 2017 Announcements

Our annual summer picnic will be held at nearby Hamlin Park following today’s services.  All are invited for food, fellowship, and games.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. The center will provide veggie burgers, buns and condiments. Directions to Hamlin Park are on the bulletin board in the social room.

On Saturday July 22, we will have a Kirtan meditation for Mahavatar Babaji from 3 to 9 pm. There will be a 30-minute break at 5:30 pm with group Energization Exercises at 5:40.

On Tuesday July 25, we will have a Commemorative Service for Mahavatar Babaji. The Commemorative Service will begin at 8 pm and be preceded by a silent meditation 7 – 7:45 pm. During the 7pm meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter silently.  Those attending the Commemorative Service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

August 14, 2016 Announcements

We are happy to let you know that we’ll be celebrating India Night on Saturday, September 10 at our Center. This event will Center around the true Spirit of India that Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda brought to us almost 100 years ago. We will honor Mother India, our spiritual homeland with festive decorations, a featured silent auction, a gourmet vegetarian Indian meal, and an uplifting devotional program. We encourage all of you to wear your best Indian dress and enjoy this special fellowship event. Tickets to the event will be sold at the door on September 10. More information with a flyer about the event will be forthcoming. We look forward to your presence and participation.

At this time we are in need of volunteers and area leaders for audio-visual, setup and clean-up as well as many helping hands in the area of decorations, food serving, ticket sales, and program coordination. We will have volunteer sign-up sheets at the Info Table starting today after the Service.

On Thursday, August 25, we will have a Commemorative Service for the birth of Bhagavan Krishna. The Commemorative Service will begin at 8 pm and be preceded by a silent meditation at 7 pm. During the meditation, ushers will allow late arrivals to enter quietly preserving the sacred atmosphere.  Those attending the Commemorative Service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering in an envelope.

On Saturday, August 27, we will be have a Kirtan meditation for Bhagavan Krishna from 3 to 9 pm.

July 3, 2016 Announcements

Our annual summer picnic will be held at Hamlin Park following the Sunday Services on July 10.  All are invited for food, fellowship, and games.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. Directions will be on the bulletin board in the social room.

Our next day of service is on Saturday, July 16. Group meditations will be held at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm. A vegetarian lunch will be provided at 1 pm. We will work on cleaning and other projects till 4 pm. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

On Saturday, July 23, we will be have a Kirtan meditation for Mahavatar Babaji from 3 to 9 pm.

On Monday, July 25 we will have a commemorative service for Mahavatar Babaji. The commemorative service will begin at 8 pm and be preceded by a silent meditation at 7 pm. Those attending the Commemorative Service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering.

Our reading for today is “Patriotism that will Endure.”

All are warmly invited to attend our Second Coming of Christ study group, which meets on Tuesdays at 6:15pm.  For more information, please see the bulletin board in the social room. If you can’t attend all the sessions but would like to follow along on your own, starting point for each week’s study session is posted on the bulletin board.

Self-Realization Fellowship is pleased to announce the 2016 Summer Day Program for Girls from June 27th – July 1st, and for Boys from July 4th – July 8th. Children between the ages 7 – 12 and teens between the ages 13 – 18 are invited to attend. The program, held in Encinitas, California, offers a unique opportunity and environment for Youth to learn and practice Paramahansa Yogananda’s How to Live spiritual principles. Flyers are available for parents at our Information Table, as well as in the Sunday School. Student scholarships are also available – for more information please contact Anand Balachandran, whose contact information is listed on the bulletin board.

Registration is now open for our annual SRF Regional Retreat to be held June 10-12 in Seabeck, WA.  Please visit our website for more information and registration.  There are also printed registration forms available in the social room.

We will be having special services next month to commemorate the birthday of our Param Guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar. On Saturday, May 7th we will have a Kirtan meditation from 3 until 9 p.m.. On Tuesday, May 10th we will have silent meditation from 7 – 7:40pm followed by the Commemorative Service for Sri Yukteswar at 8 p.m.  Those attending the Commemorative Service are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering.

On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8th, please bring a vegetarian dish to share for our potluck social after the Sunday Service.

Our next day of service is on Saturday, May 14th. We begin at 9:30 am with a meditation, have a vegetarian lunch at 1, and then finish up projects till 4. All are welcome to come for any length of time.

Our  DVD  presentation today is Brother Anandamoy’s talk entitled “Understanding Karma“.

Thank you to all who brought goods, purchased goods, or donated to the Helping Hearts Bake Sale Fund Drive last Sunday. Your generosity has allowed the goal to be reached. We will be able to provide the Large Share and a Mini Share of vegetables to be delivered to the Hopelink Shoreline Food Bank for 20 weeks this summer.

Announcements for February 21, 2016

We will be having special services next month to commemorate the Mahasamadhi of our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda on Monday, March 7 and the Mahasamadhi of our Param Guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar on Wednesday, March 9th . On each of these occasions we will have silent meditation from 7 – 7:40pm followed by the Commemorative Service at 8pm.  Those attending the Commemorative Services are asked to bring a flower and a monetary offering.  As a reminder, the ushers will allow late arrivals to quietly enter and join the meditation during 7 – 7:40pm preceding the Commemorative Services.

On Saturday, March 5th, we will hold a 6-hour meditation with Kirtan from 3-9pm to commemorate the Mahasamadhis of Paramahansa Yogananda and Swami Sri Yukteswar.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, March 12th. The day will begin at 9:30am with a meditation. We will have another meditation at 12:30pm followed by a delicious vegetarian lunch at 1pm that will be provided. Then we will finish up projects till 4pm. You may come for all or any part of the day.  All, including children, are encouraged to attend.

Our Center received a thank you letter from Br. Jason and Bro. Balananda, who visited us earlier this month.  It is posted on the bulletin board in the social room for anyone who wishes to read it.

The subject for today’s Service is “The Inner Meaning of Self-Realization.”

Announcements for 2/7/2016

All are invited to join us after today’s Service for our Potluck Social. We look forward to sharing in the food and fellowship with you.

Please note that we have recently switched service providers for our monthly email-newsletter.  The most recent newsletter was sent out this past Thursday, so please ensure that you received it. The sign-up for our newsletter can be found at the lower left corner of our home page srfseattlecenter.org.

A printed copy of yesterday’s volunteer workshop “Cultivating Divine Friendship Through a Spirit of Servicefulness” will be posted on the bulletin board for anyone who wishes to review it.

We have been fortunate this weekend to be hosting monastics from our guru Paramahansa Yogananda’s ashrams:

Br. Jason is currently conducting the Sunday School classes, so you’ll be able to meet and greet him after the Service. He currently serves as the advisor from Center Department to our Center as well as other SRF Centers and Groups in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Bro. Balananda has been a monk for over 32 years serving in the Film Department at Encinitas, as Youth Minister at Lake Shrine, and presently as Minister-in-Charge of the Phoenix temple.  Bro. Balananda will be our minister for today’s service.

Announcements for 1/24/2016

We have several events planned for our monastic visit February 4 thru 7. All are invited and encouraged to attend:

Thursday, February 4, Bro. Balananda and Br. Jason will conduct a  meditation and Satsanga from 7 to 8:30pm, followed by a Tea social. Please place your Satsanga questions in the basket in the foyer, or submit using the Contact Us section of our website (srfseattlecenter.org), as soon as possible. Please submit questions that would be relevant or helpful to the group. 

Friday, Feb 5th: There will be an outing and luncheon with the monastics, 10:00am-2:30pm. There is a sign-up sheet in the Social Room for those who wish to attend. Contact Lynn Dhanak for more information.

Saturday, Feb 6th: The monastics will lead a workshop entitled “Cultivating Divine Friendship through a Spirit of Servicefulness” from 10am-12:30pm. At 12:30 we will have a volunteer appreciation event with a catered luncheon. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you plan to attend. All are welcome. The regularly scheduled Kirtan meditation will be held 6-9 pm.

Sunday, Feb 7th: Br. Balananda will lead the 10am Meditation and the 11am Service. At 12 pm, please join us for our Potluck Social and bring a vegetarian dish to share. Thank you.

All are invited to join us for light refreshments in the social room after the Service. Please stop by and say hello at our information table, especially if you’re new to the Center or if you haven’t been here in awhile. We look forward to saying hello!
