Workshop for Meditation Leaders/Service Readers

There will be a one hour training workshop with Brother Devananda via Zoom on Saturday, April 5, at 1pm. We will plan to host it at the Center, and you can also join online from home. This workshop is open for those presently serving in those roles, as well as for those interested in serving in the capacity of Meditation Leaders or Service Readers one day. General Membership Meeting

Please join the Managing Council for our Annual General Membership Meeting today after service at 12:15pm. All members and friends are encouraged to attend and review a recap of our 2024 activities and the annual budget for 2025. The meeting will run until 2 p.m., and you are welcome to stay for as long as you’d like.

Seabeck Regional Retreat

We invite you to join in for the annual Seabeck retreat, taking place from June 6-8 this year. 2025 marks our 40th year holding the regional retreat. Registration opens online on our website on April 13 at 7pm. 

Easter Sunrise Service

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first Easter Sunrise Service held at Mother Center by Paramahansa Yogananda. To commemorate the event, a special service will be streamed online by Brother Chidananda at 7am on Easter Sunday. To honor the occasion, we will be canceling the 7am Easter Sunrise Service at our Center on April 20 so all can tune in from home to watch the special broadcast. Please join us at the Center at 10am meditation and 11am Reading Service that day, followed by the Easter potluck at noon.

Mahasamadhi Service

We will commemorate the mahasamadhi of Swami Sri Yukteswar tonight with silent meditation from 7 – 7:45 p.m. followed by the commemorative service at 8 p.m. Please bring a flower and a monetary offering as a sign of your devotion and loyalty to the SRF line of Gurus. The ushers will allow late arrivals to quietly enter and join the meditation any time from 7 – 7:45 p.m. preceding the commemorative service.

Special Mahasamadhi Services in March

We will commemorate the mahasamadhi of Paramahansa Yogananda on Friday, March 7th and the mahasamadhi of Swami Sri Yukteswar on Sunday, March 9th. On each of these occasions we will have silent meditation from 7 – 7:45 p.m. followed by the commemorative service at 8 p.m. Please bring a flower and a monetary offering as a sign of your devotion and loyalty to the SRF line of Gurus. The ushers will allow late arrivals to quietly enter and join the meditation any time from 7 – 7:45 p.m. preceding the commemorative services.

On Saturday, March 8th we will have a 6-hr. Kirtan meditation to honor the mahasamadhis of Paramahansa Yogananda and Swami Sri Yukteswar. All are welcome to participate in these devotional Services.

Automated External Defibrillator Training

Thank you to everyone who signed up for the CPR and AED training class. The class will begin at 12:15 p.m. in the Social Room, following this Service. If you haven’t signed up but are still interested in joining, please reach out to Shilpa Verma after the Service, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

To ensure a quiet and focused space for learning, we kindly ask that the Social Room remain clear for class participants. In the same spirit, and to accommodate all of our learners, the Bookroom will be available in after-hours mode today. Instructions on how to make purchases are printed and displayed in the Bookroom for your convenience. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Day of Service

Our next Day of Service will be on Saturday, March 1st from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This follows the morning meditation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome to join in the joy of fellowship and service in cleaning, gardening, and carrying out maintenance projects. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

Automated External Defibrillator Training

Our Center has acquired an Automatic External Defibrillator, also known as an AED – a user-friendly device that can play a crucial role in reviving individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. These life-saving tools are meant to be used by anyone and don’t require prior medical knowledge. In collaboration with the Shoreline Fire Department, we will offer training on how to effectively use the AED. The training session is scheduled for February 23rd at 12:15 p.m., and a signup sheet is available on the Bulletin Board for those interested in participating. You may also give your name to Shilpa Verma. All are welcome to attend the training.

The detailed schedule for the day is listed on our online calendar.
