SRF monastics Bro. Pranavananda and Bro. Samatananda will visit this coming week and the schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday Dec 12: monastic-led Inspirational Service 7-8 p.m. followed by tea social
  • Friday Dec 13: informal outing with monastics. Current plan is to meet at Green Lake at 10:30am for a walk followed by lunch.  If you are interested to attend please sign up on the sheet under the bulletin board in the social room. Your email or phone are needed so we can contact you in case of any change in plans. Questions about the outing can be directed to Lynnie Dhanak or Urmila Joshi-Phadnis.
  • Saturday Dec 14: monastic-led All-Day Christmas meditation with kirtan 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Newcomers are asked to review the information sheet about the All-Day Christmas meditation available in the social room.
  • Sunday Dec 15: monastic-led 10 a.m. meditation and 11 a.m. service followed by our Christmas Social potluck.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.

Please join us today after the service for our annual General Meeting which will be held from 12:15 – 2 p.m. The Managing Council will review the status of key projects, 2019 expenditures, and plans for 2020. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. We promise to make the meeting it as enjoyable as possible, and to end promptly at 2 p.m.

Announcements for Dec 1, 2019

We have several announcements today as reminders for the upcoming Christmas meditation services. These dates are also covered in the printed schedule of services available at the Information Table in the Social Room. Please pick up a copy if you like.

Our next pre-Christmas meditation will be this week on Saturday, December 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, with group Energization Exercises prior at 9:40 a.m.

SRF monastics Bro. Pranavananda and Bro. Samatananda will visit to lead our annual All-Day Christmas meditation on Saturday December 14th from 10 a.m. to 6p.m., the regularly scheduled Sunday services on December 15th,  and the Thursday evening inspirational service on December 12th

Today we will decorate our chapel Christmas tree at Noon after the services.  Please join us! Everyone is invited to participate and children are especially encouraged.

Please also mark your calendars for the SRF Seattle Center Annual General Meeting which will be held next Sunday, December 8th after the service, from 12:15 p.m. until 2 p.m. The Managing Council will review the status of key projects, 2019 expenditures, and plans for 2020. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The subject for today’s service is Harmonizing Work and Meditation.

Announcements for November 24, 2019

 Announcements for October 27, 2019

There are two new bulletin boards in the social room. You are welcome to place your business cards to provide services on the “Devotee Resources” board. On the “Devotee Request for Assistance” board you are welcome to place requests for assistance. There are post-it notes and a pen attached to the “Request for Assistance” board. Please remove the request when it has been fulfilled.

The services and study group are cancelled on Thursday Oct 31, Halloween.

The 3-hour 10 a.m. meditation on Saturday Nov 2 will include chanting with the kirtan group.  As usual there will be Group Energization Exercises practiced at 9:40 a.m.

Today we will be viewing Part 2 of the DVD: The Mother Aspect of God by Brother Anandamoy.

Announcements for October 20, 2019

The Seattle Center of SRF will be hosting a free public lecture titled ‘Meditation: The Source of Lasting Joy’ on Wednesday, October 23 at the Eastside Baha’i Center in Bellevue. SRF Monastics Bro. Nakulananda and Br. Troy will conduct the event, which will include a guided meditation and be followed by an informal reception.

Flyers for the event are available in the Social Room. You may post these in your area at your workplace, grocery stores, bookstores, public libraries, restaurants, yoga studios, or give them to family and friends. Please be sure to obtain any necessary permissions before posting flyers, and we ask that you go back and take down the flyers after the event is done. Your help and efforts are much appreciated.

For those on Facebook, there is a page for the event which you are invited to “Like” and share.  We also have a landing page on our website devoted to the event which includes the flyer and can be shared.

On the day of the event: If the Baha’i Center parking lot is full, additional parking is available at Kindering, across the street from the Baha’i Center, just past the Bellevue Fire Station. There is also ample street parking near the Kindering lot and the Crossroads Park.

Today after the service we’ll have our Fall Harvest Potluck. If possible we’d like to invite our monastic guests to go through the food line first and then we’ll all follow. We are planning an informal outing with the monastics tomorrow, Monday Oct 21, during the 10:30am-2pm range which will include a ride on the Edmonds ferry, a short walk, and lunch. Please see the info sheet in the social room for more info and to sign-up. The monks will also lead a 7 p.m. inspirational service on Tuesday Oct 22, the day prior to the public lecture event.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, October 19. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the Noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.
