Please mark your calendars for our annual general meeting which will be held on Sunday, Dec 8th after the service at 12:15 p.m. until 2 p.m. The Managing Council will review the status of key projects, 2019 expenditures, and plans for 2020. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

After the service, please remain in the chapel for a few minutes for a brief update from our Center Coordinator.

October 27, 2019 Announcements

 Announcements for October 27, 2019

There are two new bulletin boards in the social room. You are welcome to place your business cards to provide services on the “Devotee Resources” board. On the “Devotee Request for Assistance” board you are welcome to place requests for assistance. There are post-it notes and a pen attached to the “Request for Assistance” board. Please remove the request when it has been fulfilled.

The services and study group are cancelled on Thursday Oct 31, Halloween.

The 3-hour 10 a.m. meditation on Saturday Nov 2 will include chanting with the kirtan group.  As usual there will be Group Energization Exercises practiced at 9:40 a.m.

Today we will be viewing Part 2 of the DVD: The Mother Aspect of God by Brother Anandamoy.

Announcements for October 20, 2019

The Seattle Center of SRF will be hosting a free public lecture titled ‘Meditation: The Source of Lasting Joy’ on Wednesday, October 23 at the Eastside Baha’i Center in Bellevue. SRF Monastics Bro. Nakulananda and Br. Troy will conduct the event, which will include a guided meditation and be followed by an informal reception.

Flyers for the event are available in the Social Room. You may post these in your area at your workplace, grocery stores, bookstores, public libraries, restaurants, yoga studios, or give them to family and friends. Please be sure to obtain any necessary permissions before posting flyers, and we ask that you go back and take down the flyers after the event is done. Your help and efforts are much appreciated.

For those on Facebook, there is a page for the event which you are invited to “Like” and share.  We also have a landing page on our website devoted to the event which includes the flyer and can be shared.

On the day of the event: If the Baha’i Center parking lot is full, additional parking is available at Kindering, across the street from the Baha’i Center, just past the Bellevue Fire Station. There is also ample street parking near the Kindering lot and the Crossroads Park.

Today after the service we’ll have our Fall Harvest Potluck. If possible we’d like to invite our monastic guests to go through the food line first and then we’ll all follow. We are planning an informal outing with the monastics tomorrow, Monday Oct 21, during the 10:30am-2pm range which will include a ride on the Edmonds ferry, a short walk, and lunch. Please see the info sheet in the social room for more info and to sign-up. The monks will also lead a 7 p.m. inspirational service on Tuesday Oct 22, the day prior to the public lecture event.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, October 19. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter the chapel during the Noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.

Announcements for October 6, 2019

All are invited to attend a One Day Retreat at our Center on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be periods of group meditation, Energization Exercises, readings, kirtan, a lunch break, and free-time to walk the grounds, read quietly, or meditate. The detailed schedule for the day is listed on our website’s online calendar.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, October 19. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m. lunch, you may enter quietly and join the last hour of the group meditation by entering the chapel during the Noon chant, or meditate in the Sunday School room. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time that you can stay.

Tomorrow, Monday, September 30, we will celebrate the birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya with meditation from 7 to 7:40p.m. followed by a commemorative service with kirtan chanting at 8 p.m. Please bring a flower and donation in an envelope.

The Seattle Center of SRF will be hosting a public “introductory event” titled ‘Meditation: The Source of Lasting Joy’ on Wednesday, October 23 at the Eastside Baha’i Center in Bellevue. SRF Monastics Bro. Nakulananda and Br. Troy will be here for the event, which will include a public talk, a guided meditation, and an informal reception to allow attendees to find out more about the SRF teachings and sign-up for the Lessons. If you are interested in volunteering for this event or helping with publicity, please contract Anand Balachandran. The monks will also lead the Sunday services here at the Center on Oct 20, and a 7 p.m. inspirational service on Tuesday Oct 22.

We are also pleased to announce that SRF monastics Bro. Pranavananda and Br. Cesar will visit for our annual All-Day Christmas meditation Saturday Dec 14 and the Sunday services on Dec 15.

Our new quarterly event brochures for the Fall Quarter are now available.  You may obtain one from the ushers upon exiting the chapel today, or at the Information Table in the social room.

This month we’ll have two commemorative services and a long meditation in honor of our param-param guru Lahiri Mahasaya:

  • On Thursday, September 26, we will commemorative the mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya. There will be a meditation from 7 to 7:40p.m. followed by the commemorative service at 8 p.m.
  • On Saturday, September 28 we will have a long kirtan meditation from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with a 30-minute break at 12:30 p.m.  Group Energization Exercises will be practiced prior at 9:40 a.m.

September 8, 2019 Announcements

On Friday, September 13 at 7 p.m. we will have a family movie night and ice cream social here at the Center. We will watch the documentary film “Ma and Me” about the life of Anandamayi Ma, the Indian woman saint who Paramahansa Yogananda met and wrote about in Autobiography of a Yogi.  Children are invited to join their parents in the chapel to watch the film. Ice cream will be provided in the social room after the movie.

We will have a long meditation and two commemorative services in honor of our Param-Param Guru Lahiri Mahasaya in September.

On Thursday, September 26, we will celebrate the  Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya. There will be a meditation from 7:00 to 7:40p.m. followed by the Commemorative service at 8:00 p.m.
