Announcements for Sunday, February 4, 2018

All are invited to attend a one day retreat at our Center on Saturday, February 17th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be periods of meditation, group practice of Energization Exercises, readings, kirtan and free-time. Please visit our website calendar for the full schedule details.

We will have our next Day of Service on Saturday, February 24. A vegetarian lunch will be served directly after the 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. meditation, and then we will do projects around the Center up until 5 p.m. For those who wish to come and meditate prior to the 1 p.m.  lunch, you may enter quietly and join the last hour of the group meditation in the chapel anytime between 12 – 1 p.m. All are welcome for the Day of Service, including children, for any length of time that you can stay.

The subject for today’s service is, “How Active Westerners Can Realize God.”

There will be a 6-hour meditation with Kirtan on Saturday, January 13 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to commemorate the birthday of our Guru. Please bring a fruit offering. There will be a break from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. with Group Energization Exercises practiced at 12:40.  Those who wish to practice EE’s in the morning prior to 10 a.m. may do so individually.

Today after the service, we will take down our beautiful Christmas tree and put away the ornaments.  If you are available to stay, we would appreciate some extra helping hands.  Thank you!

The subject for today’s service is, “ Kriya Yoga: The Bliss-filled Path to God.”

December 31, 2017 Announcements

Announcements for 12/31/2017

All are welcome to bring in the New Year with group meditation from 11:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 12:30 a.m.

On Friday, January 5, we will have a commemorative service for Paramahansa Yogananda’s birthday which will begin at 8 p.m, preceded by meditation from 7 – 7:40 p.m.  The ushers will allow late arrivals to enter quietly during the 7 p.m. meditation, which will be followed by a 20-minute intermission before the 8 p.m. service begins. Please bring a flower and monetary donation in an envelope.

Saturday, January 6 will be our first 3-hour meditation on the new morning schedule.  Group Energization Exercises will be practiced at 9:40 a.m. and the meditation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.  If you can only attend part of the meditation, please enter or exit only during a chanting period.

Announcements for 12/17/17

Immediately after the service, the Sunday School children will come into the chapel to hear from Bro. Muktananda followed singing Jingle Bells with the congregation.  Afterward, all are invited for a vegetarian potluck and fellowship in the social room.  Please note that extra tables and seating will be available in the Sunday School rooms.

If you are interested to give someone the gift of Guruji’s eternal wisdom, the Bookroom Committee invites you to stop by after the service today. And, gift wrapping is being offered with any purchase!

Announcements for 12/10/17

We are pleased to announce that we will host SRF monastics, Brother Muktananda and Brahmachari Francesco, for our spiritual Christmas this coming weekend. Our itinerary is as follows:

Thursday, Dec. 14: Meditation and Inspirational Service led by Br. Francesco at 7:30 p.m. followed by a tea social with the monastics.

Friday, Dec. 15: All are invited to an outing with the monastics from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We will take a walk in West Seattle followed by lunch. If you’d like to join, please sign up on the whiteboard in the Social Room and Lynnie Dhanak will contact you with details.

Saturday, Dec. 16: All-Day Christmas Meditation with Kirtan 10 a.m – 6 p.m, led by monastics.  There is a printout at the Information Table with information about how to prepare for the All-Day Christmas meditation. All are invited for this special all-day meditation, an annual tradition initiated by Paramahansa Yogananda and carried in on at SRF Temples and Centers worldwide.

Sunday, Dec. 17: 10 a.m. meditation and the 11 a.m. service will be led by monastics. Afterward we will have a potluck and fellowship. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.

The subject for today’s service is, “Understanding the Unreality of Matter.”
