Announcements for Sunday, September 23, 2018
We have several special services this coming week:
- Wednesday, September 26, we will commemorate the Mahasamadhi of our Param Param Guru Lahiri Mahasaya.
- Saturday, September 29, there will be a long kirtan meditation from 3 – 9pm, which will include a 30-minute break at 5:30 and group Energization Exercises at 5:40. (Note that the usual 3-hour morning meditation is cancelled that day.)
- Sunday, September 30, we will celebrate the Birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya.
- For the two Commemorative services, we’ll have silent meditation at 7pm and the Commemorative service at 8. Please bring a flower and an envelope with a monetary donation to those services.
All of the aforementioned scheduling details are available on our website.
- Our Thursday Scripture Study Group, which meets on Thursdays at 6:45pm preceding the 7:30pm Inspirational Service, has completed Volume 1 of Second Coming of Christ and has begun Volume 2. For those who haven’t attended, the format is that one person at a time reads a few paragraphs, and then we meditate for a couple minutes before moving to the next paragraph. All are welcome to attend, to read or just to listen. If you have any questions, please talk with Julie Rose.
- Our Usher Committee is in need volunteers for Thursday, Sunday, and Commemorative services. If you are interested or have any questions, please speak with Steven Gary.
- Please mark you calendars for our 2018 General Membership Meeting on Nov 11th after the Sunday Services. We would also like to invite any newer members who are attending regularly, but haven’t signed up to become Voting Members, to consider doing so. There is a Voting Membership form at the Information Table which gives further information. If you have any questions, please talk with Anshika Kumar, who is Secretary on the Managing Council.
After the service today we will go to the sundial courtyard for a group photo with the monastics and then have our Fall Harvest Potluck. After the picture, we’d like to offer the monks the chance to go through the line first and then we’ll all follow and enjoy fellowship together.
