Announcements for 9/18/2016
Thank you to all who donated items to the silent auction that was held on India Night, and for those who placed bids and bought items. The auction was a great success and we had over 80 attendees for India Night.
On Saturday, September 24 there will be a long kirtan meditation from 3 to 9pm to commemorate Lahiri Mahasaya.
This month we will have two Commemorative Services. On Monday, September 26, we will commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya, and on Friday, September 30, we will celebrate his birthday. On each date, there will be a silent meditation from 7 – 7:40 pm. The usher will allow people to enter quietly. The meditation will be followed by the Commemorative Service from 8 – 9:30 pm. Please bring a flower and donation to offer during the Commemorative Service.
Please join us for an inspiring day of spiritual fellowship and an opportunity to perform maintenance, gardening, and cleaning tasks at the Seattle Center of SRF. The Day of Service is a wonderful opportunity to serve at the Center and one of the best ways to get to know other members. Paramahansa Yogananda initiated the tradition of holding a Day of Service not only to perform needed tasks, but also to cultivate the spiritual community through meditation and serving together.
Our next Day of Service is on Saturday, October 8. Group meditations will be held at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm. A vegetarian lunch will be provided at 1 pm. We will work on cleaning and other projects till 4 pm. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.
The subject for today’s reading is is: “Life: A Cosmic Motion Picture.”
