Announcements for 10/02/2016
Our quarterly Day of Service is a wonderful opportunity to serve at the Center and one of the best ways to get to know other members. Paramahansa Yogananda initiated the tradition of holding a Day of Service not only to perform needed tasks, but also to cultivate the spiritual community through meditation and serving together.
Our next Day of Service is on Saturday, October 8. Group meditations will be held at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm. A vegetarian lunch will be provided at 1 pm. We will work on cleaning, maintenance, gardening, and other projects till 4 pm. All are welcome, including children, for any length of time.
We are happy to inform you that on October 15th Saturday we will host a one day retreat at the center from 10am to 4pm. As part of the retreat we will have guided group practice of Energization exercises, kirtan meditation and inspirational reading. We will also have free time for you to relax, take short walks if you wish, practice the presence of God and in general enjoy the day with God, retreating from the concerns and thoughts of day to day activities.
Immediately following this Service, please remain in the chapel for a brief update from the Managing Council by our Coordinator Jeremy Jones.
Our subject for today’s reading is: “Hastening human evolution”.
